Chris Fields is a molecular biologist finishing his next stint as a postdoctoral researcher in the Institute for Genomic Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His current area of research is global gene analysis of toxicants in reproductive biology.

Chris has contributed a number of modules, including:

He is also in the midst of developing tools which will integrate RNA secondary structure analysis within BioPerl, including several wrappers for RNA-based programs such as UNAFold, Infernal, and RNAMotif. He's also chipping in on other areas in Bioperl, more specifically with Bio::Tools::Run::RemoteBlast, Bio::SearchIO, and bioperl-db.

He is also starting bioperl-experimental, the proposed starting place for a Perl6 implementation of BioPerl classes. Maybe it will be ready by Christmas...

In February 2007 he became a core developer.
